thanks to the excellent MoneySavingExpert forums for these extracts:
I get phone
calls like yours from Allied International Collectors at least once
a month - they are trying to scare you into paying more than you can
afford - They shout at me down the phone, which is usually when I
tell them to bog off and drop the phone on them. I am paying the company
that the debt was originally with (Natwest visa) firstly that will
mess up the paperwork and as you are actually paying something, I
doubt very much that you would ever see the inside of a courtroom.
I said I was
paying the company direct. He then gets all nasty and says "You
don't have an agreement with Natwest". (Had I thought about it
before launching my next defence I would have said - well why the
hell are you chasing me then - but didn't think of it until afterwards.)
I then said "Well I definatley don't have any agreement with
Collectors are the rudest obnoxious company Ihave ever had to deal
I have asked
them for the deed of assignment - they claim no such thing exists
and I don't know what I'm on about.
I think they
get off on trying to scare you.
Yes indeed, Allied International Collectors are trying to scare everyone.
"If in doubt, scare someone" seems to be their motto. It's
certainly the way they do business. It doesn't seem to matter to them
that they don't know the law. They have the telesales person's stock
responses to anything which is designed to 'stop' your argument, even
though your argument is based on law and theirs is based on ignorance.
