Allied International Collections is a debt collection agency that has purchased your debt account from the original creditor, often a bank (or in some cases another debt collecting agency) for about 10 percent or less of the original value and is brazenly attempting to recover the full sum of the original from you.

Allied International Collections will use all sorts of nasty methods to get you to set up a standing order in order to profit from your ignorance of the law. You may have already experienced bad and terrifying experiences of them. They may phone you at odd times and do this many times every day. They may send you official-appearing sternly worded letters or cards threatening to come round to collect the full amount or that they will take you to court. Other tricks will include attempting to make a charging order on your home or in some way cause you great personal suffering.

So ask Allied International Collections for a copy of the original contract when you took out your loan or credit card.

To find out if you qualify for an IVA or can benefit from a debt management programme, try the IVA Test. It's free to apply, and again you are protected by the consumer laws regarding debt management at all stages. Click here to go to the application form.

More Data On Allied International Collections

My thanks to the excellent MoneySavingExpert forums for these extracts:

I posted a thread on here a few weeks ago regarding Allied International Collections. They are chasing me for full outstanding payments for Tesco and Mint credit cards. They said that I would have to pay it all by 30th April. It was impossible for me to find £3300 within a month, so I begged and pleaded for advice. It was unanimous that I shouldn't attempt to get another loan, so I wrote to them recorded delivery asking for my CCA with two cheques, one for each credit card. I since got a letter asking why I had failed to pay up, I ignored this letter as I thought the letters had crossed in the post. Yesterday I arrived home to find two identical letters - Notification of Intended Visit. I rang up and finally got through to somebody this afternoon, asking why I had not yet received my CCA. He started shouting at me asking why I wanted it - I said because I was entitled to it etc, and he just continued to shout "Why, why why???" He refused to send it to me, saying that they wouldn't give it to me and that I should try and get it from the credit card companies. Surely I was right to ask Allied International Collections for it?? Why won't they send it to me? He accused me of biding time and ended the conversation with "see you in court" before putting the phone down on me.

OUR COMMENTS: Characteristically nasty of them. The best thing to do with Allied INternational Collections is NEVER to speak to them on the phone. Always insist that they write to you.
